Some NH counties will cost you more than others for auto insurance


New Hampshire has the 10th lowest car insurance rates in the country, according to insurancequotes.com. However, there are some counties that raise your rate more than others.

The insurance website says Cheshire and Merrimack Counties have the cheapest rates, coming in 7-percent below the state average. Sullivan, Grafton and Bellknap Counties came in at 5-percent below the state average. Coos, Carroll and Strafford counties are 2 percent to 3 percent below average state rates.

Not all Granite Staters save money. Rockingham County residents pay 3-percent more, and Hillsborough County residents pay 5-percent more.

Here are the top and bottom five states in the ranking:

1. North Carolina: -41%
2. Idaho: -37%
3. Ohio: -33%
4. Maine: -33%
5. Wisconsin: -28%

Most Expensive Car Insurance Rates - Above national average
1. Michigan: +136%
2. Rhode Island: +45%
3. New York: +42%
4. Delaware: +41%
5. Louisiana: +33%
