Social media

Social media has emerged as a new force in politics.

Among other things, it helps candidates reach voters without having to go through the traditional media -- newspapers, radio and TV.

Vermont Gov. Howard Dean in 2004 was one of the first to create an effective online campaign that connected him to many young supporters and helped him raise funds, though he ultimately did not prevail in his efforts to win the Democratic nomination to run for president.

Since then, social media campaigns have only blossomed -- and studies (see here and here) suggest these efforts make a difference.

Social media is important but you need to do more.

Go back and try again
