Snowy Saturday: Heavy snowfall hits much of NH

Many Granite Staters woke up to the sight of fresh snowfall Saturday morning.

While the powder can make for pleasant aesthetics, road conditions have become ugly in a hurry and the NH Department of Transportation has reduced highway speeds to 45 mph.

Concord officials have issued a winter parking ban that will go in to effect starting at 12 a.m. Sunday lasting until 7 a.m. There will be no "on street" parking at that time on any street in the city.

Additionally, Portsmouth has issued a ban of its own effective noon on Sat. lasting until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Manchester Police has tweeted, "@mht_nh_police: Please drive slowly. Road conditions are slippery throughout the City and the highways, so please use caution and avoid driving if possible."

There have already been reports of several accidents in Merrimack, Londonderry and Windham.

Stay tuned to NH1.com for more details, and catch NH1's live coverage of the storm beginning at 2 p.m. on WBIN-TV.
