Snowmobile accident in Weare causes

WEARE - A 14-year-old boy from Massachusetts was riding a snowmobile with his friend and father when he got into an accident.

Just after 12 p.m. on Saturday, a 911 call was made from Ferrin-Bartlett Town Forest. The boy struck a large rock in the trail and lost control of his snowmobile.

The snowmobile was jarred to the right and struck a tree on the right side of the trail, causing a serious leg injury. He may have also sustained bruised or broken ribs.

New Hampshire Fish and Game assisted the Weare Fire Department and the Weare Police Department.

The rider was stabilized on scene and transported out with a rescue sled to the awaiting ambulance. Dartmouth Hospital's DHART rescue helicopter was also dispatched and transported him to Dartmouth Hospital just after 2 p.m.

No further information is available at this time.
