SNHU looks to West Coast for call center due to growing numbers of students

MANCHESTER — Southern New Hampshire University is looking to the West Coast for a new call center to accommodate its' growing number of online students.

In addition to their physical campus, which has over 3,000 students enrolled, SNHU has approximately 85,000 students currently enrolled in online degree programs, The Union Leader reports.

University President Paul LeBlanc told the UL that challenges arise with the time difference since most of their online students are adults continuing their education operations, meaning most of their time for school is at night. In this case, operations would be altered with the three hour time difference.

SNHU is exploring locations up and down the West Coast looking for the right place to rent.

About 10 percent of the SNHU online enrollment, approximately 8,400 students, are served in the Pacific Standard time zone.

The new operations center would emply hundreds of people, and grow over the next five years, much like the Manchester campus.
