SNAP advises against scammers claiming to be representatives

CONCORD – Callers claiming to be from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, are actually scammers.

According to New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, there have been multiple reports of calls from what appear to be from the SNAP toll free hotline number- 800-221-5689.

The callers, requesting personal information are not actually from the government assistance program, but actually looking to steal your information.

The DHHS reminds residents to never provide personal information or credit card information to callers claiming to be from SNAP.

If you believe you have or are still receiving calls from the toll-free number, file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.

For more information on filing a complaint or on identity theft visit the DHHS website here.
