Sheriff: NH corrections officer tried bringing heroin into Strafford County jail

DOVER — A Strafford County corrections officer allegedly attempted to bring heroin into the jail before being detained by police.

Bryant Shipman, 25, faces one count of delivery of articles after officers stopped him from entering the housing area of the facility Wednesday afternoon.

Shipman is being held on $35,000 cash bail with an arraignment date set for Thursday.

He is currently on paid administrative leave from the department. He started working for Strafford County in May 2015.

This arrest was as a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, Strafford County Department of Corrections and their federal partnerships with the U.S. Marshals Service and ICE. Dover Police Department and Rochester Police K-9 also assisted the deputies.
