Shaheen applauds effort to help female business owners
CONCORD, N.H — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen says she is glad the Small Business Administration has moved quickly to implement her legislation aimed at encouraging women-owned small businesses.
The agency on Thursday said it was implementing a law that gives women more opportunities to win federal contracts.
Shaheen says removing barriers to federal contracts will encourage more women to start their own small businesses and will generate economic growth in New Hampshire and across the country.
The rule proposed by the Small Business Administration would give women priority for certain contracting programs as a way to help the federal government reach its goal of awarding 5 percent of all federal contracts to small businesses owned by women.
