Sex offender wanted in Manchester arrested in New York
CONCORD - Fugitive sex offender William Soltan, 33, was arrested this past Friday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Shirley, N.Y.
Soltan is a Tier II sex offender and is required to register for life while living in New Hampshire. Soltan was originally convicted of two counts of felonious sexual assault on a child between 13 and 16 years of age. In 2011, at the time of the offense, Soltan was approximately 29 years old and his victim was age 14.
Soltan had been wanted on an arrest warrant issued in January 2015 by Manchester Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender. Soltan was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on April 5, 2016. The next day, information was received from an anonymous tipster pointing to New York. This information was developed by investigators, which led to the location and arrest of Soltan on May 6.
This arrest was made by members of U.S. Marshals, New York Regional Fugitive Task Force. Soltan will be held in custody in New York, pending his return to New Hampshire on his outstanding arrest warrant.
