Sex assault, wiretapping charges dropped against former NH police officer
MANCHESTER — All charges have been dropped against a former Queen City police officer accused of sexual assault and wiretapping.
George Mallios had been accused of physically and sexually abusing a woman in March 2016 while employed by the Manchester Police Department.
The charges were nolle prossed Tuesday.
Mallios's lawyer Jaye Rancourt said he is happy that the charges had been dismissed but that the accusations have already taken their toll.
"It's too bad that his whole life has been destroyed by a lie," Rancourt said Tuesday.
Mallios had pleaded not guilty to all the charges in January.
Shortly after he entered the plea, Mallios appealed to the New Hampshire Supreme Court a restraining order filed against him by the woman accusing Mallios of abusing her.
In February, the court ultimately ruled to uphold that order.
Rancourt said Mallios has another lawyer he is consulting about whether to pursue getting his job back.
