Several snowmobile accidents with injuries reported Sunday

The Associated Press

NOTTINGHAM - New Hampshire Fish and Game officers say icy trails, and in one case, a high rate of speed, contributed to several snowmobile accidents with injuries, including one involving a 6-year-old boy.

In that accident, officers say a snowmobile traveling at a fast rate on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham on Sunday afternoon went out of control and tumbled and rolled near some children playing on the ice. One of those children, the 6-year-old, was struck by the machine and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The snowmobile driver, 44-year-old Christopher Ranstrom of Nottingham, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Accidents in Colebrook and Errol on Sunday injured two other drivers due to icy trail conditions.
