Seniors stranded as NH bus service closes its doors
NEWPORT — The Community Alliance Transportation Service, which played a big part in getting seniors to doctors appointments and pharmacies, will be shutting down Friday.
The $775,000-a-year operating cost has lost it's funding, according to the Union Leader
The service served Sullivan County and had routes that connected Newport, Claremont, and Charlestown five days a week.
Customers who call the service are being given information about local taxi services instead of the normal bus schedules.
At this time it is unknown whether or not the transportation service will ever resume.
