Senior at St. Paul's charged with burning girlfriend with lamp

CONCORD - A senior at St. Paul's private school in Concord was arrested for allegedly burning his girlfriend's leg with a hot lamp on Jan. 17.

18-year-old Ronald Hillegass faces four misdemeanors and is out on $6,000 bail.

This week a judge allowed Hillegass to return to St. Paul's and attend graduation if the school finds it acceptable.

Both St. Paul's lawyer and Hillegass' lawyer have not commented so far.

This is the second of such cases at St. Paul's within the past year.

Senior Owen Labrie was arrested and charged with allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl days before graduation.

Labrie faces four felonies and three misdemeanors.

Some students have suggested this behavior comes from a practice called the senior salute, a competition among students to hook up with underclassmen.
