Search underway for Claremont man accused in domestic violence incident

CLAREMONT - N.H. State Police, Fish and Game and Marine Patrol are all looking for a Claremont man who disappeared after local police responded to a domestic violence call at his home last Friday.

Police are looking for 26-year-old Nicholas Washburn, saying it appears he crashed his car into a guard rail on the Main Street bridge fleeing after the alleged domestic violence incident.

Efforts to locate him with a state police K-9 led officers into Vermont, but Washburn was not found.

Over the last two days, the state Marine Patrol and Fish and Game departments have assisted with searches along the Connecticut River.

Police said family members are also trying to find Washburn who has had warrants out for his arrest since the domestic violence incident last week.

Anyone with information about Friday night's events or Washburn's whereabouts is asked to call Claremont police at 603-542-9538.
