Search in Errol continues for Colebrook canoer missing since Wednesday

ERROL - The search will continue today for 34-year-old Justin Smith, who went missing while canoeing in the Androscoggin River Wednesday. Officials believe the Colebrook resident drowned, but so far searchers have only found his glasses.

With the water levels lowered, divers from the state Fish and Game Department searched the area where Smith was last seen going under water. Officials said the water depths in the area average up to 24 feet, with spots as deep as 35 feet, with very limited visibility. An underwater camera being dragged by a boat was also used in the search.

The dive team and underwater camera team will continue to search the Androscoggin Friday.
