Seabrook nuclear plant supervisor fired after refusing to take drug test
SEABROOK — A supervisor at the Seabrook nuclear power plant has been fired for refusing to take a drug test.
According to Seacoastonline, Neil Sheehan, a spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, said the decision followed an investigation by the NRC’s Office of Investigations.
“Because of the nature of the violation, the individual is no longer authorized for access to U.S. reactor facilities,” Sheehan said. The "notice of violation" will remain in the man's file to prevent him for getting work at a nuclear plant in the future.
Sheehan said the investigation was initiated by NextEra, the plant’s owner, which reported the incident to the NRC on Feb. 12.
After the incident, NextEra terminated the individual’s access to the plant pending the outcome of the investigation, Sheehan said.
