LANCASTER - Lancaster Elementary is among four public schools being recognized this week by the Excellence in Education Initiative this week.
The chair of the K-8 selection committee, Ken Darsney, explained why they made the choice.
"They're great for their kids. The staff works together. The administration supports the staff," said Darsney.
"The community supports the school. So, there's a whole package of things going on that really, really made it easy for us to make the selection."
"EDies" Awards are given out annually to a handful of local schools for excellence both in and outside the classroom.
An elementary, middle school and high school will also be honored this week.
On June 11 a gala will be held to recognize and celebrate the winners.
