Sargento expands cheese recall over listeria contamination concerns

Popular cheese brand Sargento has voluntarily expanded its listeria recall.

The company first announced the recall from its supplier Deutsch Kase Haus on Feb. 10 because of possible Listeria contamination. They expanded it on Feb. 17. The problem originated with a specialty Longhorn Colby cheese. Sargento said it has since cut ties with Deutsch Kase Haus.

"Our unwavering commitment to safety is at the core of everything we do at Sargento, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers," the company wrote in a statement on Facebook.

A list of the recalled products can be found at

Both the UPC bar code number and the sell by date must match to be part of the recall. The company asks that anyone with one of these products immediately throw it away.
