Sand delivered for Hampton sculpting competition

HAMPTON - More than 200 tons of sand was delivered to Hampton Beach on Friday morning for the 15th Annual Master Sand Sculpting Competition.

The event - which starts next Thursday and runs through Saturday evening - offers incredible hand-sculpted creations made with sand.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend.

“Between today and June 17th, we construct the sponsor and demo site," said event founder/organizer Greg Grady. "People [are] contacting me from Hong Kong, Australia, the Netherlands – all over the world want to come to Hampton Beach."

The 1st prize winner will receive $3,000, 2nd place will get $2,500 and 3rd receives $2,000.

Free professional sand sculpting lessons will also be offered.
