Sanborn middle school roof to be repaired but not in time for the school year

NEWTON — Repairs are expected to start this summer on the Sanborn Regional Middle School roof that was damaged in last year's harsh winter.

According to the Union Leader, students at the school were temporarily re-located last winter after the roof of the eight grade wing was damaged by heavy snowfall.

Superintendent Brian Blake said repairs are scheduled to begin early August, however the eighth graders will remain at their temporary location in the high school until sometime in February.

The damaged building is in the school district that serves Kingston and Newton.

The district is unsure of how much the roof will cost, proposals have been submitted but the school district has not yet hired the contractors.

A forum and tour of the high school will be held at some point this summer to offer parents and incoming eighth graders information about how programming will work for those students temporarily displaced.
