Sales up at NH firearms store following Obama speech regarding executive action on gun control

BOW - It was a busy day at Lewis Arms in Bow following President Obama’s speech on executive action on gun control.

Whenever there's talk of more restrictions on buying firearms, the local business sees a jump in gun owners coming out to buy more guns, the store's owner said.

One of the measures the President is putting forth deals with requiring background checks during sales at gun shows.

Brad Lewis, owner of the store says that might actually push more customers to buy from stores like his.

As far as the expanded background checks, Lewis says his customers have gotten used to the waiting periods and will adjust if they are lengthened.

He says adding more laws will never stop the criminals who seem to have no problem breaking them.

“I think this has a lot to do with, that there doesn't seem to be a punishment fitting," he said. "And then of course you get people that are irrational doing crazy things, and no law that you could make will stop that you can't fix the world with law and order."

Lewis says his customers weren't really even talking about the President's speech today.

They all came in focused on what they were looking for whether it was handgun or an AR-15.

He says he's interested to see how the rest of this week goes, and expects sales to continue to rise.
