Salem woman violently attacks bank employees for refusing to cash her check, police said

SALEM - A Salem woman is under arrest after she allegedly went on a violent spree of attacking Bank of America employees when they refused to cash her check. Police said Leanne E. Yerian, 35, first picked up a large three-hole punch and hit a male employee in the head and then went after the manager, jumping on her, pulling her hair, slamming her up against a wall, and then strangling her to the point she couldn't speak.

The chaos didn't stop there, police said. Yerian also allegedly struck another male employee in the back of the neck and scratched him as she fled the bank in a vehicle. Police stopped Yerian a short distance away. She was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, strangulation, and two counts of simple assault. She was held overnight in Rockingham County Jail on $5,000. She was expected to be arraigned Friday morning.
