Salem police: Man arrested for robbing 74-year-old woman, using her debit card at Kmart

SALEM - A man was arrested after police said he held a 74-year-old woman at knife point in a Market Basket parking lot and stole her wallet.

The victim told police a man demanded her purse and was armed with a 6-to-8-inch knife and that she was pushed down and her pursed snatched when she screamed for help.

She gave a description of the man and his vehicle.

One of the victim's debit card was used at a Kmart to buy $500 in American Express gift cards. Surveillance video matched her description of the man.

Later, the Massachusetts police stopped a man in a car matching the victim's description as well.

The man - later identified as Devin Mack, 31 of Derry - was found with several items belonging to the victim and and a large military style knife.

Salem police are charging Mack with robbery and fraudulent use of a credit card.
