Salem police look for suspect believed responsible for 2 robberies at 7-Eleven

SALEM - The same suspect believed to have robbed a 7-Eleven on Cluff Crossing Road last week appears to have struck again at the same location.

Police say a man walked into the store and demanded money from the clerk shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The man fits the description in another robbery on Jan. 21.

Police say on this occasion he was dressed in in blue jeans, dark shoes, a red jacket, red hat and grey scarf or shirt pulled up to cover his face.

He called to the clerk and walked behind the counter, then escorted the clerk to the two registers and emptied out all the money, including change. He then fled toward the Lancelot Court condominiums, police said.

The clerk was not harmed and no weapon was shown, however, the man kept one hand in his pocket the entire time, making the clerk think he might be armed.

Police have released a surveillance photo and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Michael Verrocchi at 890-2314.
