Salem man will face gun charges in Massachusetts


LAWRENCE, Mass. - A Salem man will face charges in Massachusetts for a cache of illegal weapons that were found in his car when he ran out of gas Wednesday.

According to the Eagle Tribune, Luis Burgos, 31, of 16 Oakridge Ave., #20, told police that he was driving his girlfriend home to Methuen after shooting at a New Hampshire gun range.

Police said they noticed Burgos' car in the middle of an intersection and blocking traffic when a police officer approached the car. Seeing a plastic gun carrying case in the car, he called for backup. According to police, they found "three long guns, in cases of different types and a green duffel bag loaded with ammo and small handguns" in the trunk.

Police said Burgos was not properly licensed to carry firearms in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.

Burgos was held on $25,000 cash bail and is due back in court on May 5.
