Salem man convicted of aggravated felonious sexual assault after teen's rape

NH1.com

SALEM — Anthony Ortiz, 19, of Salem has been convicted of aggravated felonious sexual assault and criminal restraint.

The jurors listened to testimony from the teenage victim who was a friend of Ortiz's at the time of the assault. The testimony stated that on May 28, 2015 Ortiz raped her forcefully in his bedroom.

Attorney Haggar and Victim Witness Coordinator Kate Winter commented on the bravery of the teenage girl.

"Coming forward and talking about such a personal event is never easy. Speaking out in front of the public and people the victim knows is even harder. I am impressed with this young lady’s strength and perseverance. We are pleased the jury returned the verdicts it did," the press release stated.

Ortiz's bail was revoked and he will be held at the Rockingham House of Corrections until his sentencing date that has not been scheduled yet.
