Sagamore Bridge reopens after 13-month construction project

PORTSMOUTH - As of noon Tuesday, the Sagamore Bridge is reopen after more than a year of construction. The old bridge closed to traffic back in November 2013. The city of Portsmouth along with state and federal funds paid for the six million dollar project.

The new bridge is wider allowing for easier vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle use going back and forth from Portsmouth and points in Rye and New Castle.

While the bridge was closed, it caused detours through neighborhoods and a lot of headaches for residents and drivers.
