Rubio supporter who wrestled robot protester at NH polls says he was defending himself
MANCHESTER - A brief wrestling match caught on video pitted a protester wearing a robot costume against the state chairman of the Marco Rubio campaign.
Cliff Hurst, who's been helping to coordinate the Florida Senator's campaign in NH, says he didn't instigate the violence.
"We were up at the Ward One polling place. Rubio had just left and we were walking back up to the signs... and the guy's pushing me from behind and I said: stop pushing me. And he pushed again and I went down. And I got back up and grabbed him and pushed him over - and of course they had cameras all around," he said.
"I'm not a violent person and I've never had an encounter like this in my life. I'm a very peaceful person. I'm 76 years old and not really battle ready," Hurst said.
Hurst, an experience campaign operative, said he doesn't know who the man was. "This is my eighth campaign and I've never experienced anything close, but I think this is a very unusual year."
Here's the video. What do you think?
