Romanian man charged with sex assault in Laconia fled US

LACONIA — The Laconia city prosecutor says that to the best of his knowledge, a 24-year-old Romanian man charged with sexual assault is not currently in the country.
The Daily Sun reports Miklos Szekely is charged with forcible fondling for an alleged incident that occurred at his home on Maple Street on Sept. 28, 2015.
City Prosecutor Jim Sawyer says Szekely returned to Romania after posting his $6,000 cash bail, and it is highly unlikely that he would be extradited.
Sawyer says he's had ongoing conversations with an attorney representing Szekely, who would be open to additional charges if he refuses to return for his May 3 trial.
If Szekely doesn't return to Laconia, Sawyer says it could "impede his freedom to move about the world."
