Rockingham County identified as healthiest county in NH
Rockingham County has been named the healthiest county in New Hampshire according to a review of statistics by the investment website 247wallst.com.
The rankings draw on several national studies including a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute joint program.
Rockingham County was considered the healthiest county for several reasons. Only 10.3 percent of residents lack health insurance and its child mortality rate was the lowest in New Hampshire.
The county’s high school graduation rate is high with 90 percent of ninth graders graduating after four years – a figure that’s 10 percentage points higher than the national rate. Child poverty is low, with just over 11 percent of children eligible for free lunch – far lower than the state average of 21.3 percent.
