Rochester woman airlifted to hospital after crashing into tree

ROCHESTER — A Rochester woman suffered serious injuries after crashing into a tree while not wearing a seatbelt.

Wendy Hatfield, 49, veered off the road on Leonard Street Tuesday at about 9:50 a.m. The vehicle struck the tree, causing the air bags to deploy and extensive front end damage.

Hatfield was transported by Frisbie EMS to Skyhaven Airport to be air lifted by DHART to Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine with serious injuries.

Hatfield was the only occupant in the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, police said.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
