Rochester teen seriously injured after being hit by a car on his bike

ROCHESTER - A local teen was seriously injured after he was hit by a car while riding his bike on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, 18-year-old William Stewart of 6 Jackson St. was riding his mountain bike south on Milton Road around 4:30 p.m. when a man driving a Volkswagen Golf and heading north on Milton turned onto the Route 202/11 on-ramp and hit Stewart.

Stewart was flown by helicopter to Maine Medical Center with serious and possibly life threatening injured, police said. The driver, Brandon Roy, 22, of New Durham was not injured.

The westbound ramp to Route 202/11 was still closed around 7:30 p.m. to allow for the investigation into the accident.
Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the accident, police said.
