ROCHESTER — After sifting through numerous tips, police believe they have a suspect in the assault of a woman outside of Planet Fitness on June 12.
Rochester police said they have a "strong suspect" in the case, and that an arrest is expected next week.
Police thanked the public for their tips that helped identify the suspect.
On June 12, officers responded to Planet Fitness at 306 N. Main St. for a reported assault around 10 p.m.
The 18-year-old female victim reported that while walking out to her car, a man assaulted her from behind. He punched her about 39 times, threw her to the ground and then kneed her in the head, surveillance video obtained by police June 19 showed. The suspect got in his car and drove away before officers arrived, police said.
