Rochester Police: Reports of dog being thrown from car fabricated
ROCHESTER - The Rochester Police said the weekend report of a dog being thrown out of the window of a car could be a hoax.
On Saturday, the police asked the community to identify the owner or owners of a dog that was allegedly thrown out of a car on Norway Plains Road.
The post generated a heavy response, including from someone who claimed to be the owner of the dog.
However the police said Monday, that based on evidence and the investigation, the dog was not, in fact, thrown from the window of a vehicle.
The police said the early report was fabricated and that the investigation is continuing and could result in criminal charges.
The dog is still being kept at the Rochester Police holding facility.
