Rochester police arrest Maine woman on drug charges

ROCHESTER - A Maine woman wanted on several prior charges was picked up by police on Tuesday night after police recognized her when she was driving on Union Street.

Kristin Gates, 27, of 22 Imperial Drive, in Eliot, had warrants connected to a Feb. 10 incident, including driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving without giving proof of insurance and criminal trespass.

New charges were brought against her on Tuesday, including driving with a suspended or revoked license due to a DWI, driving without giving proof of insurance, disobeying a police officer, possession of a controlled drug, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.

Police did not say what kind of drugs were discovered but say they have been sent to the state police crime lab for testing.

Gates was held on $5,000 cash bail at the Strafford County jail and was arraigned Wednesday morning.
