Rochester man smashes store windows with sword, said he was doing 'god's work'

ROCHESTER – A 53-year-old man who smashed business’ windows with a sword told police he was doing “god’s work.”

Oscar Michaud, of Rochester, damaged the property of four businesses along South Main Street.

When police arrived they found Michaud with a sword and a stick – all of which he used to break the glass windows.

Witnesses identified Michaud and one witness reported he threatened him by pointing the sword at them and grabbing them.

Michaud told police the “world was ending” and he was doing “god’s work.”

He was arrested and charged with four counts of criminal mischief, criminal assault, and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.

Gold-n-Things, Tri City Bicycles, and The Granite State Vapor Lounge all had damage to their businesses.
