33 year old Lee Thurston was arrested Monday after he allegedly shot and killed the family dog after a young boy was injured playing with the dog.

Rochester man arrested for shooting, killing his dog


ROCHESTER - Police arrested 33-year-old Lee Thurston Monday evening after they responded to his Sheridan Avenue apartment for a report of someone shooting their dog.

Police say a 4-year-old family member was injured while playing with the family pet. The dog was put in its kennel after the alleged incident.

Police say Thurston grabbed his high caliber hunting rifle and shot the dog in the kennel. The dog did not survive.

Thurston was arrested without incident and charged with Reckless Conduct a Class B Felony, Cruelty to Animals a Class B Felony, and Unauthorized use of Firearm Violation.

He was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He's due in court April 20th, 2015.
