HAMPTON — A man was arrested on prostitution charges and child endangerment charges after police said he was involved in a prostitution deal with his 7-year-old child in the car.
James Nesbitt, 39, of Rochester was arrested for prompting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.
On Jan. 25, the Hampton police department opened an investigation after monitoring online prostitution activity. An undercover detective engaged in electronic communication with another person discussing sexual activity in exchange for money.
Two months later, on March 25, the detective arranged a meeting.
Nesbitt was transporting another in order to facilitate the sexual exchange. His 7-year-old child was also a passenger in the vehicle.
Warrants were granted for Nesbitt's arrest for promoting prostitution for transporting another person for the purposes of sexual conduct as well as endangering the welfare of a child.
Nesbitt was taken into Rochester police custody on Friday and is scheduled for arraignment on May 17.
