Rice nomination to US Attorney for New Hampshire confirmed

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) — The U.S. Senate has confirmed the nomination of Emily Gray Rice to serve as U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire.

Rice was nominated by President Barack Obama at the recommendation of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in June. Sen. Kelly Ayotte also supported the recommendation.

Rice replaces acting U.S. Attorney Donald Feith.

Shaheen says she recommended Rice because of her "exceptional qualifications." She cites Rice's background as a professor at the University of New Hampshire Law School, her work as a trial lawyer and her career in the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. Ayotte says Rice has a long history of leadership.

The nomination was approved by voice vote Tuesday.
