Revamped 'View' begins its daytime run
The Associated Press
NEW YORK (AP) Daytime's "The View" is beginning its post-Barbara Walters era with a new set, new direction and mostly new team.
Whoopi Goldberg is the only holdover on the daytime chatfest, which has faded in recent years as competitors sought to improve on its ensemble format. A slimmed-down Rosie O'Donnell returned Monday for her second run on the show, joined by actress Rosie Perez and former Republican political operative Nicolle Wallace.
It unveiled a new aqua and orange set for its first show under new top producer Bill Wolff, most recently Rachel Maddow's producer at MSNBC.
Walters watched the show from backstage, after filming an opening segment seated on a throne with the four hosts each paying homage.
