EASTON - Rescuers came to the aid of a Canadian hiker who fell and injured her leg on the Mount Kinsman Trail on Thursday afternoon.

According to the N.H. Fish and Game Department, 77-year-old Monique Jeanmart, from Outremont, Quebec, was hiking with her husband. The pair had set out from the trail head off Route 116 that morning and it was on their way back down that she fell and hurt her leg. When she and her husband realized she could not continue, he called 911 for help.

Conservation officers and volunteers from the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team hiked in about three miles to meet the pair, provided some immediate first aid and then carried her off the mountain. Jeanmart was then taken to Littleton Regional hospital for evaluation.
