Rescued Shih Tzu needs medical attention after cancerous growth discovered

A puppy rescued from terrible neglect inside a Londonderry apartment received a second chance with a loving family, but now that second chance is in jeopardy.

The little Shih Tzu was nicknamed Puppy and was trimmed of his overgrown hair and received extensive medical attention, including removal of a growth on his face.

Happily situated in a new home, the dog has been renamed "Stevie," but the dog's owner says now that the cancerous growth has recurred and the dog will need additional medical treatment.

"The doctors hope to remove this growth, however with each vet visit, the expenses have started to add up," write Karlee Guzowski, who started a gofundme page to help her mother who adopted the dog.

"The family asks that you help them continue to give Stevie another chance and live the rest of his life redeemed from the dire situation he was in before," she writes.
