Report suggests NH revenue $3 million higher in June

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) — State revenues came in $3.3 million above plan for June, putting the state $42.5 million ahead of estimates for the fiscal year.

The revenue numbers released Thursday are unaudited, and the state will see a final audited picture of the year's budget in the fall. These numbers, while unofficial, offer a favorable view of the state's overall revenue picture.

Republican budget writers and Gov. Maggie Hassan have been squabbling over how big the state's surplus will be, as lawmakers hope to roll some into the next state budget. Hassan vetoed lawmakers' original budget plan, leaving them to craft a new plan.

Business taxes — a frequent topic of partisan bickering — were roughly $6 million above plan for June. They are $1 million behind the plan for the year.
