Report: 1 in 4 drug overdoses in United States related to heroin in 2015

The opioid crisis is running rampant across the United States as one in four drug overdoses in 2015 was related to heroin, according to the latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report shows an increase from 1999 when 6 percent of all overdoses were related to the drug.
In 2015, overdoses involving opioids represented 60 percent of all overdose deaths, which is a 10 percent jump from 2010.
2015 was the first time the number of overdose deaths in the United States exceeded 50,000, the report showed.
