Redistricting plans halted until new superintendent is chosen in Manchester

MANCHESTER — As the Manchester superintendent gets ready to step down on Oct. 1, the redistricting issue in city schools have been placed on hold until a new person is in place and can take part in the process.

The unanimous vote to suspend operations came after a committee member suggested to step away from the process until a new superintendent is chose, a decision that can come as early as this weekend, according to the Union Leader.

The committee members have narrowed the pool to four redistricting plans including: The Mayor's Plan, Livingston's plan, The 2007 Plan, and The Junior STEAM Program at West Plan, the UL reports. Each involved shifting grade levels in certain schools, creating more programs, and other plans in order to open up more classrooms.

Many parents and educators have expressed frustration and concern with the plan thus far. Suspending the redistricting plan will help the new superintendent get to know the district.
