Red Cross assists 14 families displaced from heavy rains

DERRY - The America Red Cross in Derry is providing overnight shelter for residents displaced by power-outages.

A roof leak caused a building at 15 West Broadway to shut power off, forcing 14 families to be displaced.

The power could be restored later Sunday night, but Red Cross volunteers said they are opening client cases on all residents in case there is a need for overnight shelter.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers are meeting with residents to ensure a safe place to sleep, with access to food, clothing, medication and other essentials.

Residents who need help are urged to call Red Cross assistance at 644-6818.
