Recently returned National Guard members welcomed home in Concord

CONCORD - The New Hampshire Army National Guard held a welcome home ceremony on Saturday for a group of soldiers who returned recently from a nine-month deployment.

The Operational Support Airlift Detachment 18 was responsible for more than 50 tons of cargo, including critical repair parts for aviation units in Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the Middle East.

"We were very excited to see him come home safe," said Anna Phinney, one of the family members at the event.

"We're very proud of the whole unit; they're wonderful people, a wonderful bunch of people from our country," said George Munson, whose son was one of those honored.

Gov. Maggie Hassan also was in attendance to welcome the crew home.
