RECALL: Pier 1 recalls swinging chairs and stands after parts break, people hurt

Pier 1 Imports is announcing a recall for the Swingasan chairs and stands.

The items were sold separately.

The chair hangs from a steel stand and made of wrought iron frame covered with woven plastic wicker.

The suspension hardware on the chair and stand can break. In addition the stand can become unstable during use.

There have been more than 100 reports of incidents involving the chairs and stands, with nearly 30 injuries documented.

Consumers should stop using the chairs and stands immediately.

Contact Pier 1 Imports for a free repair kit, or return the item for a full refund.

There is no repair kit for the Podasan Mocha and Organge Swingsan chairs, they will need to be returned.

The chairs and stands sold exclusively at Pier 1 Imports between January 2010 and August 2015 for between $200 and $400. Click here for a complete list of the chairs and stand involved with the recall.
