Frozen peas and mixed vegetables sold in Walmart and Target stores are being recalled due to concerns they may contain Listeria, a potentially fatal organism.
Some of the recalled brands include Great Value, Bountiful Harvest, First Street Green, Live Smart and Market Pantry. The products were sold between Sept. 2, 2015 and June 2, 2016.
The National Frozen Foods Corporation says that Listeria will generally only cause short-term symptoms for healthy people, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
However, Listeria infections can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women or can cause serious - and sometimes fatal - infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The corporation says that the recall is being made as a precaution, and no illnesses have been reported.
