RECALL: Apple recalls charging cable for MacBooks

Apple has issued a recall involving Apple’s 2015 MacBook refresh.

The recall involves the USB Type C cables that may fail. There have been no reports of fire associated with the cables.

Apple said the recall covers all MacBook purchases equipped with the Type C connector, but not MacBook Pros which use traditional power and USB 3 connectivity.

The impacted cables were purchased through June 2015. It is easy to tell if you have a faulty cable, they feature the text “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.”

The company says they are making a free replacement cable available, for more information go to the Apple Recall Center page.
